pretend.

i am watching wheel of fortune at the moment and to be a bit of a nerd for a sec... i am loving every minute of it. from the second vanna walks out with her cute little waist, sparkly dress & stilettos, my life feels enriched. this is an extremely different feeling than i had an hour ago when i was rollerblading around the lake and noticed the nasty men driving around checking out the ladies. puke.

i started rollerblading the lake a few weeks ago and tonight... i set my record. i went around not just one time... but two. and no, i am not one of those freaks who likes working out! so, two 'laps'= 6.5 miles (i think). booyah!

but back to the wheel of fortune... (sorry, i got a little side-tracked!). i remember going to visit my grandparents down in hick, iowa and spending a whole week there during the summer. i loved the open fields and gravel roads. watching wheel of fortune was like clockwork at grandma's. first, we would eat dinner which consisted of a main dish and mashed potatoes (every time). next, we would all gather around the tv for wheel of fortune. i wasn't that us kids really loved the show, but it was what we did & then went to bed by 830 or so (just late enough to catch some fireflies in a bucket!). i felt like when i was in iowa, i could pretend to be someone else because none of the people down there knew me. i could act all mature or have a british accent and no one knew the difference (of course i wasn't doing that in front of grandma!).

my co-worker and i were talking about this the other day actually. yeah, i think every kid pretends when they are younger... but then it was confession time. we still do it. we pretend. our fav place to be someone else? the airport. whether it was pretending to run to catch your plane or pulling an accent or my favorite, dressing in my finest and acting like i sleep in money. nobody knows the difference. what do you do differently when you know no one who knows you will be around? sometimes i change how i walk or will purposely call someone so that i can look 'busy'.

we are road-tripping it to see jordan & krisitin this weekend in sarasota! i can't wait to see that woman! get ready for the craziness, friends!
