a few days away.

i have always had this sense that at some point in my life, i should have gone into real estate. granted, looking at the housing market, i am thanking the lord that i didn't take that route. i do love touring homes, seeing personalities through decorating and just realizing that a house may be just a house to some, but it has the potential of being a home if you let it.

i was up in charleston, wv last thurs-sun and it was excellent. excellent for so many different reasons. i met new people, saw new places, did some journaling here and there, dove into a new book and had a few spare minutes to take a couple pics.

charleston is one of the prettiest cities i have ever visited. could i ever settle down and live there? probably not... but for those who can survive in a city with less than 60,000 people... this is your place! the charm of this historic town kept me on the edge of my seat all weekend. i was lucky enough to get a rental car (though not my first choice, if i would have had one!) and in most of my free time, i couldn't help but drive. i wanted to explore... and i'm so glad i did.

my car... err spacemobile?!

my first day in charleston, i drove downtown and was amazed by how beautiful it was. as i was strolling around with my windows down and ingrid michaelson leading the way... i stumbled upon one of the most fabulous areas of the whole town (at least i think so!). if you drive across the river and wind around the mountain, there lies a quaint little village-like shopping area. my favorite part was a little chocolate shop. holl's is completely swiss chocolate hand made & to die for!

out of all the different ventures i took on this trip, driving around and seeing the historically beautiful homes was my #1. unfortunately, lakeland doesn't have near this much character, nor do we have a sweet river that goes through our city. basically, what i'm trying to say is that i am moving to charleston. ok, maybe not. here are my fav pics from the trip...

i fell in love with the tulips up there... they were everywhere!

oh yes... and my favorite part. it almost made me consider moving...

i LOVE this house. everything from the popping pink door to the spiral plant thing to the pink flower tree (sorry, i so do not have a green thumb!)...
